It’s 2016 and event attendees want a more uniquely exciting and memorable experience from any event they attend now. They won’t settle for an event that’s simply not boring.
And as NY and NJ event planners, it’s our business to keep pace with the evolving tastes and preferences of attendees. So, we decided to compile and examine some of the trends you need to keep an eye on if you want your corporate or social events to continue to impress in 2016.
1. Creative Venue Choices
This trend’s been ongoing for a while, but it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Whether it’s a corporate conference or a graduation party, people are making more uncommon, creative choices for their locations now.
At one time, it pretty much came down to deciding between a conference or banquet hall, but nowadays, a lot more events are being held at unusual venues like concert halls, art galleries, etc.
For some more creative venue ideas, check out this recent post, Ideas for Event Venues That Your Attendees Will Never Forget, but the point is, applying a little outside-the-box thinking to your venue decision will continue to be a good way of impressing attendees in 2016.
2. Event Ambassadors Created via Social Media
In marketing, they call it them brand ambassadors and they essentially serve the same purpose as event ambassadors, which refers to attendees who promote your event and share their experiences with their own inner circles.
And as the popularity and possibilities of social media continue to grow and expand, there will continue to be new ways to create event ambassadors using these platforms. How do you do that?
Well, you need to give them an event they can’t forget. They need to be so excited, so satisfied with their experience that they simply cannot wait to tell everyone they know about it. Easy, right?
Of course not, but we’ve been in event planning in NY and NJ for long enough to know that that doesn’t mean that shouldn’t be the objective every time and for more on that, check out this post, 3 Tips for Turning Event Attendees into Event Ambassadors.
3. Live Streaming
Advancements in various technologies are always affecting social and corporate events and now, one of the latest tech-related event trends to keep an eye on moving forward is the use of live-streaming video.
Brands are using them more and more now to stream speakers and entertainers and to share their event experience with those who aren’t actually there in person. You can pass them onto people who couldn’t make it for whatever reason as well as put them up on your social media pages and spread them around any other way you can.
Video has become one of the best ways to connect with modern audiences. It works perfectly for recreating the event experience and with tools like Periscope and Meerkat emerging, it’s only getting easier for you, and your attendees, to live stream videos of your event experience.
